One may think of starry nights, blue skies, sun and fresh air when camping. All will be right if you have the
proper camping equipment. Newbie’s to camping will usually forget something that is very important and the old dogs
might not take something they think they do not need. Raccoon thieves are everywhere so are the bugs that bite,
sunburn and maybe even hay fever.
The camping equipment tent is the first and foremost item one should have in their camping trip. Some suggest do
not spend a lot of money on the tent until you decide whether you want to do more camping. Tents can make one feel
closed in or claustrophobic, so at least try and find one that is open and airy. Kids have a hard time in tents as
they are not used to being so close to other people. You at least want to be able sit up in the tent, and even
stand if you’re going to spend more money.
If there are four people that are going camping get a camping equipment tent that sleeps at least six. That way
it gives you a bit more room than one that only sleeps four. The tent should have a window or two for cross air
ventilation as it can get stuffy in a tent. The tent should be relatively easy to put up, before that camping trip,
try putting it up in the back yard. Testing to see how easy it is to put up before hand is a good idea. Maybe even
try setting it up in the dark, as most times that will be the case when you arrive at the camp site, it will be
dark.
A camping equipment tent must come with a base tarp and the rain flap to keep the rain out. If the tent you are
buying does not have a ground tarp, buy one. It will save a lot of achy bones and it helps to keep bugs out, not to
mention the dirt and mud. Having a camping equipment tent with a rain flap will protect you from the rain and will
add another layer of protection from the bugs and crawlies.
There are a few items that are needed on a camping trip and can fit into the camping equipment tent. Such as
sleeping bags, they are almost a necessity. They keep you warm and eliminate the trips to the truck to get more
blankets, if you packed extra. They come in all different sizes and material. Depending on where you are camping
the days may be warm or even hot, but most likely the nights will be cool and you will be thankful you bought
sleeping bags. Be sure to take pillows too, they do come in handy. Of course cooking utensils, food and water also
need to go in the camping equipment tent.
Dress warmly at night when you are in the camping equipment tent, long johns, long nightgowns, etc. you never
know what will happen and you should be comfortable and warm.
